Have you ever thought about being a guest on a podcast? If you're a small business owner, you should! It's a super-effective way to build trust and visibility with your target audience.

So how do you actually get on a podcast? Here are a few things to keep in mind.

First, make sure you understand your target audience. Who are they? What's important to them? What types of podcasts do they listen to? If you don't know, ASK them! Send out a survey if you need to.

Once you have a pretty good idea of the types of podcasts they like, you can start making a list of shows you'd like to contact. Make sure you spend some time listening to each one, so you understand what they're about, and you have some good ice breakers. Many podcasters will have a contact form on their website for potential guests, but you can also just send an email introducing yourself.

Facebook groups are another great way to land a guest spot! Search for podcast-related groups, and you'll find there are several dedicated to connecting podcasters with potential guests. Once you join a group, you can make a post seeking a guest spot, or wait until the right opportunity pops up in the newsfeed.

Podcasts are such an effective way to spread your message, and best of all, being a guest doesn't cost you anything or require more than an hour or so of your time. So what are you waiting for? Grab yourself a spot on my calendar if you need help landing your first guest spot.
